Iron supply for Hydroponic Leafy Greens

Wed Feb 28, 2018 5:38 am

Hi,
Im looking to grow leafy greens like butterhead and romaine lettuce, but I havent figured out the right Fe ratio yet.
The fertilizer i currently favor has
Iron (Fe)* 55 ppm Manganese (Mn)* 11 ppm

how much would you recommend for lettuce growing?
greetings,
hans

The balance of these two is important as you indicate sirhans. Those levels look ok, keeping the magnanese down to a level that will not affect iron take up.
Don’t forget ph levels though. The nearer to 7 the poorer the uptake by the Roots of iron.
In trials I’ve looked at iron 50 ppm with added manganese at around 6 the final dry weight was improved.
