Re: socks hydroponic by adelegypt

So then does the pop bottle with the sock in it have holes for the nutrient solution to get in? Is there some kind of aeration for the water/ solutions. In a flood and drain system this would be taken care of, if it is just sitting in a bucket of water & nutrients, it seems like it would have to be aerated.

It's ingenious. Have you done it before or is this your first experiment with it?

Those are tomato plants, which if all goes well will get very big. How long are you thinking you can keep them in the bucket? Have you thought about any supports for the plants?

The lower 1/2 of bottle is extensively holed, the upper 1/2 not contains holes because it is above the level of n. solution and in this part the growth of roots is powerfull

Yes there is aeration

Growing in a buchet without aeration is experimental because i noticed that the growth of roots is more good in the upper 1/2 of bottle that is above the level of solution because it is saturated with vapour

Re: socks hydroponic by adelegypt

plants are looking good!

Keep us posted how it all works out! Lots of people would be interested.

I love that you are thinking about what people with very limited resources and no land to grow on could do. I guess there are pop bottles everywhere, all around the world!
