umm i think the only fans that can be slowed down with a dimmer switch is a capacitor driven fan i have an inductor fan is there any way to slow it down?
I've seen this post languishing. Re: The Induction Fan, put a variable resistor between the fan and the power supply. Then you can tell us. I think this will work. Have a great day.
Greetings, I just read a bit about methods of speed control on induction motors. There are said to be three ways to do this. One method is the use of DC-AC Converter, this might be the most straight forward fix.
Have you found, while waiting for an answer a method you plan to use?
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you'll need a VFD ( variable frequency drive) to change the HZ(cycles per second) or possibly vary the voltage, which is probably what people mean by a variable resistor. Could use a Variac(auto) transformer to vary speed.
Edit: After looking closer, they are the same a shaded pole motor. If you have a more than 3 wires coming off, the extra wires are speed settings.
