broccoli and spinach

I am wanting to grow broccoli and spinach in the same deep water culture system. I am going to use a 20 gallon to 25 gallon storage bin. I would like to have at least four broccoli plants, and at least six spinach plants. should I use a bigger storage bin?

can these even grow together well in the same system? I have read that broccoli likes a ph of 7.0, and spinach likes it anywhere from 6.5 to 6 .8. so if I kept the ph around 6.8 to 6.9 that should keep both plants relatively happy?

I'm going to be using 400 watt HPS/MH lighting fixture. I have read that both plants like around the same ambient temperature and the same amount of lighting. so is there any reason why these two plants can not be grown in the same bin?

any tips or tricks on growing the two together would be greatly appreciated.
