I want to set up a parsley plant in the above 5 gal system... what nutrient(s) do I need?

UPDATE:

I just set a bowl of water to 5.5, soaked a rockwool cube for a bit.. removed cube and placed 2 parsley seeds in it.. I guess I just sit and wait for them to sprout before continuing on..

Are you just trying out hydro for the first time? Before I got into aquaponics I worked with hydro and found that it wasn't too hard to get the hang of.
I tried Earth Juice, but didn't have as much luck with it. In a system like this it'd more than likely foam out of the container and make a mess. The Canna line of nutrients were very easy to use, but they are expensive. If you're just starting out to give it a try I'd suggest going with the basic General Hydroponics 3 part nutrients. They're one of the most inexpensive hydro nutrients out there. Easy to use, too. I was happy with the results I got from them, and only moved on once I felt like exploring more expensive nutrients.
After planting in the rockwool about all you can do is wait. I'm never good at having patience when I'm waiting for seeds to pop up  . I use rockwool in my aquaponic systems. My preferred method of starting seeds is to germinate them in coco coir (I usually go with the bricked stuff in the reptile department of pet stores) and transplant to rockwool when they pop up. I've found that I personally have better luck with germination using coco as opposed to seeding directly to rockwool.
