New Bonsai

20150418_190202.jpg
I just bought a new Fujian Tea Bonsai tree today. I was wondering how to tell if I need to re-pot the tree, and what I should look for regarding that. It looks pretty healthy for the most part. Any advice is appreciated. I also don't know what to do about the wire that sticks up, and some of the roots kind of stick out of the gravel. I attached several photos, some of how the tree and the leafs look, one of me pointing at the root and another of the wire.

If those rocks are glued on they need to come off! Even if they aren't glued, I'd probably get rid of them. Makes it harder to tell when to water, and cuts down air and water circulation.

What kind of soil would you recommend I switch the rocks for?
