Why this seventh day of May in Brooklyn is this fig indoors?

It was 43 degrees out last night, and there are guys working on the roof so I have to leave the fire escape free of things.

I'd conside air-layering off the top half of the tree, wire up a side branch to be the new leader/apex. This will create the taper it very much needs.
