sick umbrella tree

My umbrella tree is dropping leaves at a rapid pace. the leave start wilting then turn brown help will greatly appreciated

Root rot, looks like. This MAY be something going around. I just lost mine, after five years, to root rot, two of them.

I'm surprised to see an umbrella plant die of root rot -- I used to keep them in chameleon cages that were misted for 15 minutes at a time, a few times each day. The plants took on quite a lot of water each day, had poor-draining soil, and all would grow well.
