Fukien Tea soil question?

Hi, I have a Fukien Tea that I bought last September and I am thinking about re-potting it this spring. My question is what type of soil do I use? The soil it is in now seems very well packed and much denser than the soil I use for other types of trees. Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey Brad,
First let me say this. It seems that you have one of the few HEALTHY fukien tea trees I've seen on this forum - and you've had it for more than 3 days!
8) You must be doing something right.

The soil - if, like you say, is dense and packed, you will want to find some loose free draining bonsai soil mix. If you don't know where to find it please contact a local bonsai club for advice. You're close to a large city and the club can be a great resource.

The tree - very nice. It could use some pruning to 'tighten-up' the foliage pads. You might consider shortening the first (right) branch a bit for balance. But over all a nice fukien tea bonsai. Congrats!

Note - it may not be wise to re-pot and re-style the tree in the same season. Be patient.

Post more pics if you want.
