I figured the smaller one would keep the roots from spreading out to far so the tree will stay small like it's supose to idk

I'm not a bonsai grower and I would expect the answer to that question mostly depends on your personal esthetic and the look you are going for, but the pictures I have seen of ficus nitida mostly have them in shallow oval pots.
However, there's a separate question that one of our actual bonsai experts can answer better than I can (hopefully one will wander by soon), which is how soon to put your bonsai in a small pot. I don't know how big your tree is now. (I don't know if the pictures above are actually of your tree or are sample pictures.) I have read about training pots. That is if you are starting with a good sized tree and cutting it down, you don't want to stick it in a teeny pot right away, you have to sort of gradually work it down to being comfortable in a very small bonsai pot. Right, bonsai folks?
