Hawaiian Umbrella

Hi I have an brand new hawaiian umbrella that I just received. It's about 2-2.3 feet tall in good health. I'm wondering how to prune it so it becomes fuller and more dense as right now it looks like this:

I would like to prune it so it gets a few more leave near the bottom and middle. Some detailed how to prune instructions would be great as I am fairly new to this.

I have found the best way to get the tree to grow more branches is to defoilate it completely, then cut it down to where you want new branches to develope. It can be cut down as far as you want. Just remember to defoilate the entire tree when doing this. Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

Antix,

Just to point out what may be obvious. If you intend to follow bonsaiboy's suggestion, you can shorten it first (retaining the leaves of the top) and have a go at rooting the top portion. Then, if successful, you will end up with two plants.
