ÙRGENT Serissa Bonsai in need of assistance

With regards to the bonsai in the attached photo, is there any course of action which can be taken in order to help save this plant? Or is the condition terminal???

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as the shop it was purchased from has since closed it doors.

niallmartin77,

Hello and welcome. I don't grow this species so I am far from an expert but Serissa is well known to be a rather difficult species to keep, especially for a beginner. In all honesty it does not look good. This does not mean that I would throw it out just yet, plants can sometimes surprise you.

There is a test that is often suggested which is to make a small nick or scratch in the bark and look for green, living tissue. If none is found then you are likely in for a disappointment. Even if there is living tissue that is no guarantee that it will survive but it is a first step.
