Crook Neck Squash, holding me hostage

Hey all,
I have yellow crook neck squash that are super bumpy, kinda creepy. What is the deal with these? I bought the seeds and thought I had my regular non VD infected squash but they came up instead. Are they ok to eat? do I cook them differently? Are the bumps catching? Any tips are appreciated!!! :D

Just one of the common varieties. IMO taste the same as the smooth ones.
