usually if a vegetable grows to tall or big with out producing it's because of to much nitrogen. I don't know about the holes though. My plant looked like junk for a long time with holes and leaves falling off an not growing then one day it started to take off. I now have one pepper on it and it's only about 1 1/2 foot tall. My goal is to get one off it before it turns cold. I've also thought about bringing it in for the winter and seeing if I can keep it going. :)

so can you just buy nitrogen at the garden center? if so do you know how much you need to apply?
just curious, when did you plant your peppers? I bought mine from home depot and planted them last month.
