SWEET BELLE PEPPERS NOT GROWING

usually if a vegetable grows to tall or big with out producing it's because of to much nitrogen. I don't know about the holes though. My plant looked like junk for a long time with holes and leaves falling off an not growing then one day it started to take off. I now have one pepper on it and it's only about 1 1/2 foot tall. My goal is to get one off it before it turns cold. I've also thought about bringing it in for the winter and seeing if I can keep it going.

so can you just buy nitrogen at the garden center? if so do you know how much you need to apply?
just curious, when did you plant your peppers? I bought mine from home depot and planted them last month.
