Can I use this as mulch in a veggie garden?

We just had a maple tree stump ground out in our yard. There is lots and lots of ground up tree mulch. Can I use this in the garden or will it cause a problem?
I normally don't use mulch but this stuff smells and looks good
I just don't want to kill all my veggies at this point.

Over time, as the wood break down, you will eventually want to add an additional rich nitrogen source to the area that has the wood chips - as they decompose, they will tie up a lot of the nitrogen in the soil. Other than that, I can't think of any problem with using it as a mulch.

Are you putting it directly on the garden or on a compost pile? Or I should ask are you going to mix anyhting else with it? Just curious. I don't see any problem with it as I have several stumps that are decomposing in the mddle of my garden and I have not had any problem
