Seedling id markers
I am planning on starting the following peppers, eggplants, tomatos, and some flowers as a project with my kids. Would a mini blind (made out of vinyl) cut into peices make good I.d. markers? I have one that is less than 2 years old that is missing a couple of slats. I saw it on a website, but also saw elsewhere that it could contain lead. If it isn't a good idea what could I use that is inexpensive?
I think writing with an indelible ink pen onto sections of blind slats is a very good idea.
I would be very surprised if it contained lead, or indeed any pigment used to colour it contained lead.
Alternatively if starting in plastic pots write on the pot, or, if you have a split plastic pot cut it up into label shaped pieces.
Does your supermarket sell lollipop sticks for home made lollies. They would not cost very much

I am a huge fan of recycling things in unusual ways, I myself use plastic cups (I am a bartender) for markers until I put my plants into the ground. I then paint markers on broken slate tiles (slate is a multi-purpose tool in my home and garden). I prefer to look at my gardening as my art so I incorporate many art projects with the kids and local artists.
