Wet bonemeal fermenting

I accidentally left a bucket of bonemeal out and it got heavily rained on. Now it's sodden and stinky. Can I / should I spread it on the garden; even if it's OK to use, can it be over-applied? There's quite a lot of it.

I doubt that the garden will mind, and working into the soil will alleviate the stink.

You could also apply in a trench just beyond rootzone of smaller crop/target plant, like you would fertilizer, instead of on the surface like you might typically with bonemeal.

If you don’t want to use all, I suspect you could start a leaf mold compost by mixing with fallen leaves in a bag or bucket along with some yogurt and/or yeast (…or compost starter microbes). You need the extra carbon/brown to offset the stink (nitrogen).
