Are these eggs, seeds or what?

I'm finding these little yellow translucent balls in a soil mix I made: garden soil, potting soil and peat.
Does anyone know what they are?

I believe that is a material designed to hold water. It is made from modified corn starch. I think that is the same stuff they put in baby diapers only in powder form.

Add moisten some of them - if it gels, it's the moisture holder, if it sprouts, it's a seed, if it crawls away, it's an egg!

It sort of looks like Slow-release fertilizer Like Osmocote
...but snail/slug eggs can look similar

Good suggestion: I'll try that. But what if they hatch into alien invaders from galaxy GTY2937b? Woo-woo.

Looks like the little balls I find in Miracle Gro soil. It's a fertilizer or moister holder ball thingy. I think.

Looks like a fertilizer, but I wont trust it until I know it's organic

Immersed in water for a week. They're unchanged.
