I would recommend putting dirt in it first. :P

On a serious note, how deep is it?

BirdLover72,

Make sure to drill numerous holes in the bottom for drainage. If you prop the box up on bricks or wooden blocks it will help in that regard.

Oh yah that is plenty deep for I would bet almost all vegetable plants. Like gnome said though be sure to drill some holes in the bottom.

Just out of cureosity, where are you ganna put this big ole box? Is it goin on a deck or patio or are you just putting it out in the yard somewhere?

This looks amazingly like one of Mel Bartholomew's 3' x 3' demonstration "Square Foot Gardens." They have floors, too! Yes, with drainage holes.

So, given the right soil/compost/planting mix and enough sunlight and water, veg's will definitely grow!

Don't forget stuff like trellises and supports.

Looks good!
Like everyone else, some sort of drainage (holes and maybe some rocks) is all it needs. I'd also recommend get lining for it so the wood won't be damaged, and it will last longer.
....and dirt.
