I prefer Packman. It is not the fastest growing, often taking 2 1/2 months to produce harvestable heads, but produces large heads and many side shoots over the growing season. They do like space and I usually plant them 24 inches apart in my garden. Even then, the plants will grow to where they are overlapping each other in the row. I've generally gotten main heads in the 8-10 inch range, followed by weeks of side shoot production.

Waltham and Packman have done well for me. The main thing is: Plant some!

I have heard good things about Packman. I plant DeCicco and Italian sprouting because that is what is recommended for my area.

I see there is a 45 day broccoli and 74 day broccoli. 45 day is the most logical 1 to grow it will be ready to harvest about 2nd week of Oct. 74 day broccoli will be ready about mid Nov after 1st frost and may 1st freeze too. You just never know what the weather will do last years we had no freeze until first part of December.
