New Gardener -- Introduction

I am a new gardener from the Kansas City area. I have spent many hours reading the forum and decided to give vegetables a try. I have posted my problem tomato plants on the Tomato forum. I have more challenges than successes. My hot pepper plants seem to be one of the few successes at this point.

Thanks

Bobby

Welcome to the forum.

I myself haven't been here too long but there is plenty to read about and learn from all the posts on this forum.

Congratulations on your pepper plants as well. Those seeds aren't exactly that easy to get germinating. Did you use a heating pad or are you using a lamp?

BDKS, if you can then I would recomend getting those tomatos and peppers into the sunlight as much as you can. I suppose it is still kinda cold but if you have a good southern facing window you should get them up there.

You are right though, the reason they are so tall and skinny, leggy, is because they aren't getting enough sunlight.

They are still looking good though, still pretty early.

Welcome to the HG! We are happy to have you and your garden! Yes, probably already been said but, a grow light is a must for seedlings started indoors and at this time of year (at least above the equator).

I did not use any heat source. They were started in a window. The trays were over-watered. I think that may be cause of low germination rate. They have been placed under grow lights now.
