What would you recomend?
The bugs aren't bad yet, just a couple nibbles here and there before I catch them and squish their worthless little bug guts out. But still, if it does get to a point that I need something to keep the heartless little bastards at bay, then what suggestions do you have?

A few options for you: if you have aphids, wash them off with soapy water.
A weekly dose of aerated compost tea actually helps to detur insect herbivory by allowing a healthy population of micro organisms on the leaves and stems of your plants that will prey upon insects.
And finally as a last resort, the one insecticide that we do recommend here at the HG: Neem oil which comes as an oil and a soap. Use no more than once a week.
It is apparently quite safe to use, I have even seen soap made from neem oil in local shops. However, if anyone has data to contest that claim please let us know.
