Identifying seedlings from weeds

I have a lot of new little weeds & new little seedings in my garden. I did a few flat beds for carrots & beets (seemed like a good idea at the time ). I'm finding it difficult to commit to pulling anything because I'm not sure what's what. Will the seedlings all have the two pointy leaves to start ; there are a number of small round leaves in there am I safe to pull those?

The lacy true leaves of carrots are not likely to be described as "round."

If you have planted seed for red beets, the color should show up very early in the stems of the seedlings.

My guess is that the "small round leaves" are neither carrots nor beets, especially if you can distinguish that beet color in some of the other plants.

Do you think it would make a great difference if I left it awhile until I can better identify? I pulled good stuff last year

Its OK to wait a while. Let the plants get their secondary leaves, then it is easier to tell what they are. Do you plant in rows? If its not in the row its a weed.
