When to hand pollinate?

Hi

I have a cucumber plant in a pot with some female flowers (spotted today) and male flowers.

I read about hand pollination, but since I see some bees around sometimes I am not sure if I should hand pollinate it or not.

How long should I wait before I hand pollinate it?

The bees will usually do the job but it requires multiple visits for complete polination. The squash bee is a better pollinator than a honey bee. The flowers will close up by mid morning so if you are going to hand pollinate you should do it before the flowers close. If you want the bees to polinate wait a couple of hours for them to do their thing and brush pollen from the male anther onto the female stigma.
