Sweet Potato Disease?

Hi. My sweet potatoes are looking a little sick. The lower leaves are yellowing and dying, and some of the big leaves have yellowing with brown spots. I googled around and couldn't find anything that quite looked like this.

Any idea what this is? TIA.

I think the pot may have too much water. Better to put some holes at the bottom of the pot and see how they thrive. Good luck

YOU have sweet potatoes is a pot? I never heard of that before. Who would guess you could grow sweet potatoes in a pot. I get 75 lbs of sweet potatoes from 1 plant I bet you can not do that is a pot. Sweet potatoes love it hot and dry, full sun 15 hours every day and 100 degree temperature is what they like.

Matt, there are holes in the container (of course) but I do think my soil retains too much water. When I try again next year, I'll amend it so that it drains better.

Well, I bet I can not do that in a 'pot' either (actually the largest Rubbermaid tote you can buy), but my gardening space is about the size of a closet. And yes, sweet potatoes can thrive in containers. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... er+harvest+
