Help! Found insect eggs on top of my soil.
I was watering my tomato plant that I am growing in a container and noticed these maggot looking eggs on top of the soil. Can someone please identify the unwanted visitors and give some advice on how to treat the problem before they hatch. THANKS!!

They DO look like eggs with the translucent shiny white appearance, but my first response on seeing them was that they look like fungal growth. Looking at the zoomed photo, it's hard to reconcile the insect egg-like appearance, but the planting medium looks woody and moist, so I still think fungus is very likely -- In which case they will either grow some more in the next 24 hours or/and die, and are harmless.
If too nervous to leave them alone, I would just scoop that part out with a spoon or something.
