Need help to identify a plant

Hey guys,

I'm growing a garden for the first time and I started the plants from the seeds. It gave me one weird plant that look nothing like the others and I don't know what the heck it is.

Any thoughts ?

I think that's a spinach that has bolted to bloom and set seeds in the heat.

If you sow spinach too late or plant seedlings started in a small container, or they get otherwise stressed like not enough water, they bolt easily.

Agree with Applestar, some species of salad green that has bolted. You don't say where you're from, but if it is as hot in your part of the world as it is here, I'm surprised it grew that much. Salad greens, for the most part, do not like hot weather. Lettuces, spinach, kale, etc. all seem to bolt once it gets in the 80's on a consistent basis.

Swiss Chard will grow fairly well when it gets hot, and it is a spinach substitute in many dishes I cook.

If you did not plant it and don't know what it is, call it a weed ! My definition of a weed: A plant out of place.

Have fun with your new interest!
