I know cats can have unusual food choices but peas is a first.
Happy gardening in Hawaii. Gardens are where people grow.

Oh boy. Those darned cats, right? Tell them they are not rabbits. Mine have been eating my marjoram as hairball upchuck aid or something.... :x

I'm pretty sure peas will grow side shoots and recover. Image

But you should try to plant those out very soon. Once peas are ready to vine like that, they start growing deep roots and can be sensitive to root disturbance -- in this case, the peat pots can be significant obstruction while they are dry. It's actually usually best to make slits, remove bottoms, or peel them off (But you can't do that if the roots have already grown into them). They are also brittle with hollow stems and can kink and bend easily. You want them growing where they will grow before it's too difficult to transplant. Right now, with top pruned by your cats, might be the perfect opportunity. (Maybe that's what your cats were telling you.)

Your cats are looking for greens. I keep a low pot with wheat grass/oat grass in it for my cat. She'll sit in it and munch, she leaves the other plants alone. dogs will eat it, too. I get the stuff at the feed store.

Peas are a cool weather crop and can be planted (seed) directly out in the garden. Make a pea patch. Plant 4 rows of peas .

It takes a lot of plants to make a bucketful of pods.
