What to plant now?

Which of the following can I plant now in zone 5 or 6 (Cleveland)? Which can I plant in 1 month? 2?

1. Cauliflower
2. Broccoli
3. Kale
4. Cabbage

Trying to do a second planting of the above.

Cabbage I think you could probably plant now, though I have never tried it. It is a bit more hardy in the heat than other cold weather crops.

Kale, spinach, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower could all be planted end of Aug or beginning of Sept. for fall crop.

Beans, corns, summer squash, small melons with quicker maturity dates, would all be good to plant now.

If you don't have those 4 things in the ground now wait until late summer and plant for a fall crop. If you treat the kale well, picking off the big leaves, watering regularly etc, it will often continue to produce into fall. All of those are really temperate to cool weather crops, and are hard to get going during the longest and hottest days of summer.

DonV - before making ANY decisions as to "what to plant now", look up as to when your average first frost is & backdate from there.
