Planting cucumbers in September

I planted some 'pickel bush' seedlings about mid August in zone 7a.

I checked them today and there are multiple fruit set per plant. I've got six-seven weeks before average first frost and I'm thinking they might do OK.

I think it's worth a try. I think a smaller cuke might be more successful. For me, Kirbys and other pickeling cukes are quite tasty fresh.

You might want to try earlier maturing cuke varieties.

Around here, I'm supposed to add two weeks to the official DTM for fall. I'm not sure if difference in day length makes as much difference In Texas.

I would plant them in a raised bed or a cold frame so they can be covered when the night temp gets close to freezing! You may extend the season a whole month that way!
