Mice/Rats

Novice gardener needs help to rid my garden of mice and rats. They have destroyed my zucchini, spinach, and bush beans.
I have set standard mouse and rat traps inside and outside the garden area, where I see them leaving. The use of bait is useless since there is an abundant amount of vegetables for them to eat. Anyone else had this problem? And how did you get rid of them? Preferabley without pestisides
Thanks for all replies in advance.

CATS...they work great for me...I have my three and a few strays I feed and they have eliminated the rodent problem I had almost instantly...good luck
