Saving bean seed

Image

So I harvested these dragons tongue beans from a small plot I specifically planted for seed. They were already somewhat dried out right on the plants. Now what? I suppose they should be dried a bit more before storage? Thanks!

Yes, JayPoc, spread them out and let 'em dry. I give them at least a week and this is a fairly arid part of the country.

This picture was taken after dark. I just pulled the baskets together on a bench in my greenhouse to show what I've been up to:

I have saved seed often but this was the 1st time in over 30 years that I have grown some beans for dry use. That is, I had quite a few of those Cascade Giant rattlesnake beans last year. They are usually used as green beans but made a tasty pot of soup last winter!
