Retiring in 5mo. Wife wants to start a veggie garden and a greenhouse. 30'x44'. I know it's going to be a lot of work but also lots of fun. Anyone have a greenhouse that can help me? Live in zone 9a, SE Texas(near Tomball, Tx). Want year round veggies and berries.................Steve

Are you talking a green house 30 x 44 feet? That is a big greenhouse.

In your zone, you can garden year round without a greenhouse, can't you? For sure you can grow many things year round.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, why do you need a greenhouse in zone 9?

You can't eat corn year around, but if you are willing to eat with the seasons there would always be something in your veggie garden.

This time of year you would be planting broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, carrots, and all the cold weather stuff.

I'm not very far away from you steve... My wife & I live out in the Post Oaks of Colorado County, just west of you.

About 3 years ago we finally decided to build a greenhouse and settled on a Rion "Green Giant", 8'6"wide by 12'6" long. It is wired with 2 electrical circuits (120V/20A & 220V/30A) & is heated with 19.3K BTU unit. I use mine just for starting seeds & over-wintering our citrus, cactus' & ferns (it is basically used from November - March). Other than that we plant everything in the garden, which has grown in size over the years (now 4000 sq.ft.) & is still a work in progress.

What a beautiful set up! Obviously a lot of care has gone in to creating a garden that is aesthetically pleasing as well as productive. Welcome to the Forum!!
