Grass migrating into my garden

I have grass that grows like vines it continues to migrate into my garden. I think it is called burmada grass. The stuff is a nightmare to kill. Cut it off and the pieces grow. Till it and it helps it grow faster.

I cook 4 slices of bacon for breakfast every morning after a month I have 1 pint of cooking oil I don't need. I spray the oil on the grass and it kills it dead.

Online says oil kills grass by sufficating it. The grass can not breath so it dies.

I assume any oil will work.

Can you still plant after the oil is used or does it leave an oil coat on the soil too?

I try to get all the oil on the grass. It does not hurt the soil.

Re: Grass migrating into my garden

Thanks. I have the same problem with the St. Augustine, it has long runners and will invade the shrub border by climbing over the edging I always have to go in there and yank it out.

I do have the grass trying to get across the sidewalk and pavers. I found pinesol to be a great killer, but it does kill everything else. I've had earthworms jump two feet out of the soil after using it. I might try the oil on the driveway.

Thanks for the tip.

Amazing how grass grows nicely where you don't want it to.
