Has anyone ever planted Oyster Onions from the grocery store

Has anyone every planted oyster onions from the grocery store? They look like onion sets, Red, Yellow and White.

I can not find onion sets this late in the year. I saw several packages of oyster onions today in the grocery store but there is no information on the package about planting. I don't know if they are long day or short day onions. 50 onions are $2.59 per pack.

I have never planted those from the grocery, but I am sure they will grow.

Only problem is that not knowing the variety, no telling how well, nor when they will bulb.

I think it will be worth the try if that is all you can find. For sure they will make something.

The reds I have seen are long day types. I don't know if there is short day reds.

You would likely want short day types there this time of year?

The bag says, Alaska Oyster Onions.

I know Alaska has 23 hours of sun light during their extremely short summer. I have no idea if they can even grow onions in Alaska.

23 hours of sun light per day might be an indication these could be long day onions?

My short day yellow onion seeds arrived by mail today.
