Cross Polination

Next year I plan on growing other types of pumpkins and cucumbers, and I was wondering if any of these types will cross pollinate.

Bushes Champion
Atlantic Giants
Normal Field Pumpkin

Will any of these cross pollinate?

-thanks

First, It only matters if you are saving seed. You will see no evidence of cross pollination the current year.

Squash doesn't cross with cucumber.

The two pumpkins will cross if in bloom at the same time.

I thought those types of pumpkins were in a different species, but the same family so they wouldn't cross pollinate right?

Hubbard squash, Banana squash and Big Max pumpkins, Atlantic Giant are maximas and will freely cross.

Pepo Pumpkins will freely cross with summer squash and other pepo varieties.

Cucumbers will not cross with squash at all.

As noted, it doesn't matter if you are not saving seed.

This year I am only growing one maxima on my lot as I want to save the seed. It is Red Kuri. I planted some other maximas on another plot.

If you grow Atlantic Giant I suggest no other maxomas and save the seed. That seed brings a good price.
