Overcrowded Squash?

I have two squash plants (early golden crookneck) growing in an 18 gallon tote. Needless to say, they are relatively close to one another. There are a few branches that have spread into the "personal space" of the other plant (think of it as the two plants trying to give each other a hug). Should I prune these invasive branches or leave them be?

Leave them be.

I have 2 squash plants literally within a few inches of each other and they are doing fine other than the powdery mildew issue on some of the leaves. I wouldn't have done it that way but got them pre started in the same pot and didn't want to disturb the roots

I agree with jal - it should be fine...or at the very least it's better to leave it than do anything drastic.

I have a cucumber that got stuck underneath a volunteer pumpkin, but it's figured out that the pumpkin vines are a perfect natural trellis for it to climb up!
