Peas help me!

I planted peas for the first time. A little late I might add. They are in. Should the whole pod be fat or just puffy where the peas are? I am not sure if because of late planting. Thank you.

actually peas can be picked starting small through big.

let them go too long, the pods get wrinkly and peas get mealy.
too early is better than too late.

hold a pod up to the sun, you'll be able to see the size of the peas thru the pod.
pick one, open the pod, eat the pea - see if it's the size you want....

I wait until the individual peas are touching/nearly touching to harvest - you can just from the fatness of a 'known' pod which of the rest to pick - but it is an imperfect science.

Dillbert gave you the answer. I guess I'll just add that it depends on whether the peas are snow peas, sugar snap peas, or shelling green peas.

BTW I thought "PEAS help me" was a cute play on words. :D
