Long Pole Kentucky Beans

I live in SE Florida and I planted this on 5/12 and they have run up the pole, but no flowers yet... Where would flowers form?

Also this morning I found these little black droppings, they are not everywhere and don't seem live, reminds me of some sort of poop. :(

The beans should be flowering soon. It takes about 67 days from germination to flowering. That is frass on your beans. A lot of things like to eat beans from beetles, slugs and snails to aphids, so be on the look out for them.

Keep the beans as healthy as you can to make them less of a target for pests. Your pole may be a little short. I actually grow beans on a trellis. I actually have folding tomato cages. I open them up to create a fence and let the beans crawl on that. I have actually used decorative fencing too, but the tomato cages are cheaper and I can use the cages to support cucumbers and some peppers as well as use it as a fence to keep the dog out of my garden. The only thing I don't use tomato cages for are tomatoes. The cages are easy to fold and store for later use.

I have more permanent trellises made of concrete reinforcing wire. It is hard to find places that sell it by the foot anymore but if you can that is so much better, otherwise you will need to buy a roll. If you know anyone who works in construction, especially masons, you might be able to get scraps from the job sites. I use them for tomato cages, fencing, and trellises.
