Warning! Don't compost your broccoli greens!

Eat them instead. I know I'm probably preaching to the choir on this forum, but them greens is good eats. And there is a lot of them...

Every bit as good as kale or collards...actually, pretty much a mix of the two. The texture of collards but the flavor of kale....or something like that...lol...

They are related to Kale so I eat them too. Very healthy for you.

Yes, I've been extolling the yummy qualities of broccoli leaves for a few years now. Nothing like 'em--of course, it's an interesting decision to make:

"Should I give up on this plant now and harvest the remaining leaves, or is there an outside chance I'll get a few more heads from it?"

I usually decide to pick just a few leaves, which means that I miss out on the last leaves because of unreasonable optimism re. potential (ha! non-existent!) new heads.

I didn't know you could eat broccoli greens! I was considering growing broccoli too. Thanks for the tip!

Steam, sauté, whatever you do with the broccoli heads.

use them as you would collards or kale...as greens or in soups/stews, etc. Even use it in place of spinach in some recipes....

I'd use it in salad, a green smoothie, or as a wrap.
