Hydroponic beans plague? (==> Leaf miners)

My beans have the same leaf disease that my poor tomato plants suffer every year. Does anyone know what this is and how I can stop it?

It's not a disease; it's leaf miners. :( They eat the insides of the leaves. Many of our members have detailed their struggles with leaf miners, so a search on that phrase ("leaf miners") will net you lots of information.

In soil gardens, the eggs overwinter in the soil and the nymphs crawl up the plant stems after hatching to feast on plant leaves. I'm not sure how they travel to a hydroponic plant. ???
