April snow ,rain cold good for the garden??

4/6/12 absolutely beautiful,in the 6os, tilled, planted the onions, garlic started to pop through the mulch, Today 4/12/13 rain snow just plain nasty, Hope nothing gets hurt that I planted or that sprouted up..

I have been advised that for the East Coast, three weeks ago was a tad early this season to start certain plants. I'm starting certain plants over again. Bummer, it was just hailing a few hours ago.

Onions and garlic will be fine.
