It's such a battle growing "spring" crops here where I am in the mountains of Virginia, because...well...we don't have spring. It goes from winter to summer in about 3 days most years.
Anyway, I got some cabbage and brussels sprouts plants in the ground last weekend. Its later than I like, but its been so cold. At the time I planted, the 10 day forecast didn't have nighttime lows lower than about 29-30. I thought I'd be OK.
Now, NOAA is saying 20 tonight and a HIGH of about 32 tomorrow. I'll cover everything with upturned flower pots and a hill of mulch. I think I'll be ok, but I could lose them. Frustrating, isn't it?
I still haven't planted any lettuce...I think last year at this time I was already picking lettuce.
