The two legged kids know how good the corn tastes when it's turned into masa and then tortillas or tamales. It's the wheat berries they just eat down.My four legged hairy children are more of a PITA when it comes to shelling corn. They consider their stomach the storage bucket.
I'll have maybe 20 lbs. when all is said and done. Next year 200 lbs. This was the first year with Painted Mountain. Easy to grow, less water and taste good too.
Soil, To bad you don't post more pictures. I'd like to see your beyond organic life style. ---
I found the painted mountain to be real drought tolerant. Next year I'm going try dry cropping the first batch next year. And since it's 60 days I'm going to squeeze in another too.
Did you get massive diversity in the cobs? I got every color imaginable, and on top of that excellent traits I didn't know corn could have. Like five cobs per ear. Or kernels on the tassels.
It would be a lot easier to post pics if we could just upload them to each post. I barely have time to sit here and chat let alone make photo Iliad sites and tinker with all that. Because I'd like to show the world.
