Seems late July and August every year I am battling weeds. I get good rich top soild from some old farm land, it grows great vegetables, but it must be loaded with weed seed. I am in pursuit every year, and so far the weeds have won.
New plan: Operation August Weed.
I am building grow boxes to provide boundaries for the area that I need to keep weed free by hand. The walkways I will tackle by other means. I have some pier boxes that are basically the same thing, and the definition of boundary aids in keeping the weeds out.
Here is my start. I have planted some mustard greens, purple top turnips and collards in the first box.

One thing I thought about in design was to build the boxes and walkways so that I had one entrance point for the tiller so that I could get to all planting areas from that one entrance.
You can see my concept in this picture.
