I put a bunch of crowder peas in this summer, kinda a cover crop and if they produced well all the better. It was half and half. Got tons of rain and they do not do well with alot of rain, they like it dry. Anyhow when I ripped them out, this is what the roots looked like - are these nematodes, or is it disease - it was white in color .
I did have a big ant - aphid problem to start, but got ladybugs in spades who did the trick, but it was stressful for awhile, any thoughts. Just curious. Oh and I learned a big lesson - I guess a cover crop doesn't do anything unless you let it die and till it under, I feel like a dufus - wasted my time I think.

I'll second the nematode diagnosis. I had that problem in the last house I lived in and had a hard time getting a summer garden going through the season because of them. They will allow the plants to grow, put out some produce, then things start to go south with little production of vegetables and stunted growth of the plants.
