How many Bean vines to grow on this trellis?

Hi,

I sowed some Kentucky Wonder beans yesterday. My trellis is a little over 6 foot tall and about 2.5 feet wide. I only sowed beans in 2 spots to allow only 2 vines to grow on this trellis. Could I have done another? What spacing do you use? I put 3 beans in each hole and will thin as they get bigger.

I space my beans about 2" apart. Maybe 15 beans in a straight line.

So I can grow 15 vines here?

Yes, 15 will be OK. If you can plant on both sides of the trellis, put some on both sides to spread out the roots a bit.

I tend to make bean trellises out of long sticks lashed together. 4 or 5 seeds/vines per stick works fine for me. 15 for a tripod.

I have found the thicker I plant my beans the better they seam to do. I guess that strength in numbers thing works for them also.
