Chillis are going straight to orange

I have a dwarf chilli plant which I grew from seed which currently has about 10 chillis on it. They've stayed a light green for a while, and now are turning orange/red. I am confused as they're supposed to go blue/purple first... will they still be safe to eat?

depends on the variety.. some will do exactly what you said. as far as safe to eat.. yes, you can eat them at any stage. the more stages you let it go through (up to red) the hotter they usually get. I have had orange ones before and they are just the right amount of heat for me, while my buddy prefers them red.
