Jalepenos... slow growing?
My Jalepenos are taking forever to get established. My other peppers are doing great (cayenne, cherry peppers, and bell) but it seemd like these guys are taking there sweet time. I just didn't know if this was common with jalepenos or not so I wanted to post this and see what people said...

I am in Kansas, and I planted jalepenos a couple of years ago. Mine were slow to get established, but once they got going, they didn't stop. They were the last of my vegetables to produce, but they produced better tha anything else. I had jalepenos peppers coming out my ears by the end of August. I had bags of them, so it may go the same for you.

This is generally how things work for me when it comes to hot peppers. Things start off slowly, but once we hit late-June/early-July, they start taking off and don't stop producing until first frost.Midwestguy wrote:I am in Kansas, and I planted jalepenos a couple of years ago. I had 4 Jalenpeno plants growing in containers, but 3 of them died after a late spring frost. The one that survived grows very slowly, but seems healthy otherwise. It's been the same relative height (about 15-16 inches) for quite a while. I recently transplanted it to a raised bed to give the roots more room, hoping that will help. I live in Flagstaff, Arizona where temperatures have been up to about 90°F lately.

Jalepeno..... on a stick, LOL! (Jeff Dunham)
I transplanted mine a little late so maybe that's why. Who knows? I started these little guys from seeds...
If you go to the Container Gardening section under the thread self watering eggplant container you can see alot of my picks along with the 2 little jalepenos who are taking there time growing...
