It is looking great! the herbs are growing fast now! if you do that I recommend using a soilless potting mix. it holds water better and is lighter than regular soil. Right now my Mother in law is fighting to keep hers moist and mine even in the heat and sun gets watered every second day. I think Ill do another video on the 29th to show the progress ;)

maybe a soaker hose in the bottom so when it is time to water them you can get nice even watering across the whole trough. and you could cut the hose down to make a nice end into the gutter to directly hook up the main hose to.

I can't get over how awesome this idea is!!!

Well those of us who live in the City have to maximize what we have. My father this winter challenged me to garden in 3 dimensions. so I am trying really hard. although I am having limited success with my trellis. the peas are not climbing towards the big one and I by accidently planted Zucchini next to the one in the back ;)

Looks good! I'll have to do a video of mine soon. I think you could steal what I am doing with a barrel with holes cut in it to go verticle!

I look forward to the video ;) I love any idea to maximize my space. my intern today suggested hanging a tomato off a flower hanger and plant strawberries on top. Thought it was an interesting idea !

I'll try to make a quick video in the morning of just the barrel. I made a couple mistakes, but they are simple thing slike using the wrong thing as soil etc. Things easily overcome. It'll give me a chance to to try out the new camcorder and learn how to transfer to youtube. I'll let ya know and post it here if I get it to work

Very nice! I thought up the gutter idea this spring. we have a gutter machine at work and always have pieces left over. The only problem I found is them drying out fast. Next ones I do will be 6" gutter with no holes in the bottom. I almost made window boxes out of it too.

I used a soilless mix to fill it. it holds water much better than garden soil. I do have three holes in the bottom so I can overwater ;)

my mother in law told me about is and she brought me the parts. what a great idea!!!

it is working so well!!!

thanks for watching ;)

So I figured I would start with a shot from the second floor of our house.

Harvest from last week. It was soo good!!!

While the form was down I was over at my mother-in-laws place and I figured I would check out the Improved Meyer Lemon that we gave her for mothers day. Hers was doing so well being re-potted so I figured I would get around to mine!

mmm some cherry tomatoes!!

I had to nip the tops of the plants as they kept growing and were slowing down on fruit production so I nipped them and the fruit started to grow like crazy!

The herbs have been nipped a few times for drying for winter use :D

So my little gnome boot with Thyme had to get moved. there were too many things growing over it ;)

my hybrid peppers are growing well. I am not sure if I should wait for them to turn red though.

a little white pumpkin starting. I am going to have to figure out how to hold them up on the trellis. I am a little worried about the corner joints I used but hey I am sure Ill figure it out!

some of my rigs to get the white pumpkin on to climb !!

The other side of the climbing pumpkin. I did notice the white one is stretching out a lot more and climbing all over. my orange ones are vining just not running a lot.

Those "hybrid" peppers look like my Italian Roasters. They claim they're supposed to turn red, but I don't see one shade of red on them, and they're HUGE! Should we pick?

Nice thread I like what you have done, don't know how I missed this before I have been watching your vids and you have "come a long way baby" 8) Got to love those pumpkins etc. they would love to take over the world if you let them.

DownriverG If they are supposed to red they are not ready. It has been a super slow pepper year around here and many other places. I believe your peppers are supposed to look like this, bright red.
